Small facilitated groups for women tending grief, transition, creativity, and the return to the body. Held in community, because some healing does not happen alone.
Women's Groups & Circles
A women's therapy group is a small, closed circle of women who meet weekly with a therapist to work on what they are carrying, together. It is not a support group where you share and move on. It is a place where the relationships in the room become part of the work: how you show up, what you hold back, what happens when someone reflects you back to yourself.
Our groups are somatic. Each one opens with a short practice to land in the body before anyone speaks, because most of what women are taught to carry lives below the level of words.
What is a women's therapy group?
Why a group instead of individual therapy?
Because some things only shift when you are witnessed. Individual therapy gives you one relationship to work in. A group gives you six or eight, and it shows you the patterns you cannot see alone: the way you take care of everyone before yourself, the way you go quiet, the way you apologize for taking up room. Many women do both, and the group is where the individual work gets tested.
Sensate in the City Embodied group therapy for highly sensitive women in their twenties, led by Patricia Ramirez, MHC-LP. An eight-week closed group for women who feel deeply, get overstimulated easily, and have learned to live in their heads to cope. We open each session with a brief somatic flow and then work with what is present. In person in Manhattan. Starting the end of October. Reach out to Patricia [hyperlink to email her] for more details.
This is will fill out when Patricia finishes copy, but this can work for now. Corinne is actively creating her group copy, will get that to you soon.
Current groups
Our groups are led by licensed women therapists at Shadowlight who are also longtime yoga teachers, mothers, and highly sensitive people themselves. Each group has one facilitator, so the person who screens you is the person who will be in the room every week.
Who leads these groups?
How do I join a women's group?
Reach out about the group that interests you. Each begins with a short call to make sure the group is a fit for you and for the women already in it. Groups are closed once they begin, so if a start date has passed, ask to be added to the list for the next cohort.
