Couples & Family Therapy

Focusing on the dynamics between a couple or family members in the room in the present moment, we start to identify a negative cycle of interaction. We begin to de-escalate the emotional charge in the relationship and learn more about what the underlying unmet need is. This reveals emotions that were hidden in the shadows, and builds deeper empathy for one another’s experience. By recognizing the negative cycle, we can work to get to know what part, shadow, or past-time experience from a childhood attachment relationship may need tending to. This will help you connect to your partner or family member, and stop the cycle of disconnection. There is a three-step process to help guide the process from the Emotionally Focused Therapy model which may be used. Couples Therapy can also entail various methods from Psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt, and Somatic approaches to Psychotherapy.
